Race and Muslims in the United States: A Primer is a class project of Race, Muslims and US Empire (AMCULT 310), a course taught by Professor Su’ad Abdul Khabeer at the University of Michigan in the winter semester of 2019. The primer was written and designed by students as an educational tool to inform the general US public about the ways in which the history and contemporary realities of racism and imperialism impact the lives of American Muslims. Through outlining key terms, events, actors, and relationships from the class, the primer assists in establishing a better way of understanding the complex history of Muslims in the United States.
